Smiling is contagious! :)

It was so nice to see this smiling man with his guitar in the centre of Athens! The photo is taken somewhere close to the Gate of Athena Archegetis in Plaka. I liked so much that he was wearing this light blue shirt, almost the same colour as the doors! Wondering if it was by purpose, if he was matching colours...?

Have a great day!!!

Gate of Athena Archegetis

Yellow house between the Doric columns of the Gate of Athena Archegetis in the Roman Agora, Plaka, Athens.

Sometimes it´s difficult to decide if a photo is better in colour or in black and white. (I kind of like both of them... :)) Which one do you prefer?

Have a LOVELY day!!! ღღღ

The bad eye...

In Greece you can see bijoux with the blue eye sold everywhere. The greek people buy these as a protection against the "bad eye". It is people talking bad about you or good as well, people being jealous at you, people wishing you bad...    If you have a headache or are getting sick in Greece they often think it's the bad eye and then you are "matiasméni" ("eyed"?)! Some people are doing "ksemátiasma", taking away the bad eye from you, using a cross and oliveoil. Everybody beleives in this, even doctors.

Flea market at Monasteraki

(The yellow building in this picture is the undergroundstation at Monasteraki.)

This is traditionally called Flea-market, but nowadays it's mostly normal shops there. Anyway it's very interesting shops with  a great range of different kind of  things - look at this pearl-shop for example;

Pita and Gyros

My friend Michele and I had a nice lunch at Monasteraki in the center of Athens today! Here the chef is cutting the meat down from the "gyro", which means round...
The pita-breads are waiting to be filled with gyros, kebab or souvlaki.

"Merida Gyros" or a meal of Gyros...Maybe they need bigger plates...?
